After a recent trip to Edinburgh, I was on the hunt for a new face moisturiser, as I was literally “scrapping the barrel” of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. On my travels, I stumbled across Kiehls UK. I have read and heard so many good things about their products, so I was intrigued to see how it would work out for me. When you first enter Kiehls, you are warmly welcomed by their friendly staff. I wanted help as I was astounded by their range of products. I was sat down and given a drink and the friendly Consultant went through a Skincare Consultation. Asking about tightness, firmness, and hydration. After about 15 minute chat she then did a skin test and she had decided what skin type I was, she then picked out products that would work for my skin type and that suited my lifestyle.
The first was Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. Now the price point on this at £40 ‘ouch’ you may think, but Serums are a big deal. I have used many Drug store alternatives which have been good, but not like this. If you want to spend a little bit more in your skincare then a serum is where you will see a difference. This serum is very powerful stuff. I have been using this for 4 weeks now and I really can see a difference. My skin feels plumper, and I have noticed that around my eyes the fines lines that you get from squinting (Note to self, really need to wear glasses more) are less. You can also use it as a under eye serum, which for me is just a bonus to be smoothing it around the eyes without bothering to use or buy another product. It also makes my skin feel more radiant, which is much needed with the ravages of winter and a toddler who has had a stinking cold for the past week and feels its fun to wake me up on the hour every hour!
My next product that I purchased is the Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream as this is what I really went in for, A new face moisturiser. The sales assistant felt this would be better, but “its a gel” I exclaimed. I do not like gel formula as in the past I do not feel they are hydrating enough, and my skin always felt tight. I had no need to worry, as she was RIGHT. when applied to the skin it is instantly refreshes as it feels cool to the touch. I feel that it literally drench my skin with moisture. It sinks in quickly and I could then apply my Primer quickly without it feeling sticky. Great for when you are in a rush in the mornings.
My last product which I will readily hold my hands up, was a impulse buy, in my defense I had read and heard so much hype about this product that once I smelt it, I thought I will have to give this a whirl. Its the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Enriched with Squalane, Evening Primrose Oil, Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oils including Lavender, the formula provides a boost of intensive moisture to dehydrated skin. This product lives up to its name as it works between midnight and 4am, when the skin is adept at absorbing ingredients. The first impression of this product is the smell, when you open the bottle. Lavender hits you with its relaxing aroma. Putting a few drops in the palm of your hand and then press your hands together and then inhale the lavender. You then press onto your cheeks, forehead and chin, like you are caring for a delicate antique. Then go from the base of the neck with upward strokes.
It has quickly become a bedtime ritual and it sets you up for a restful night sleep. In the morning you do notice that your skin is noticeably well rested and their is a plumpness to the skin. I totally understand why this is a bit hit as you see instant results.
So there you have my experience at Kiehls. I really enjoyed being spoilt, and my face being massaged with all manner of lotion and potions, but what the sales assistant was telling me made sense and has worked for me. If you are passing a Kiehls why not pop in and have a experience yourself.
These are my Skincare essentials, what are yours? Tell me in the comments below, I would love to hear from you.

I think every man and his dog has one of these in their make up arsenal, what am I talking about, Yes Micellar Cleansing water. Back in the day it was something that only make-up artists would use the pricey Micellar Cleansing Water– Bioderma. Then the drugstore brought it to everyone. To be fair why should make-up artists have all the tricks. Far better to share the know how and for all to benefit. I have been giving the 3 main drugstore alternatives a fair go and it surprised me how they all have a slight difference, let me elaborate.
Nivea Sensitive 3 in 1 Micellar Cleansing water
I picked this one up when it was on offer at the local supermarket as it is more pricey than the other Micellar Cleansing Water. It worked really well at removing make-up and water-proof eye make-up as well. This product in my opinion is perfect if you have a delicate skin as it is such a gentle formula. It contains 200ml and the packaging is inoffensive. It really is the formula that sets it apart with Dexpanthenol ( relieves dry skin) and grape seed oil (controls moisture in the skin) included really boosts it power in being gentle on the skin.
Simple has always been a great range that is really kind to the skin. Its effects are very similar to the Nivea Micellar Cleansing Water apart from, it took a couple of goes to remove water-proof eye make-up. It contains 200ml as well, but I just felt the Nivea Micellar Cleansing Water just had that little extra edge.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I reviewed this when it first came out back in April last year and had it in My favourites in July as well. So to say This is my FAVOURITE is an under statement. It removes make-up, Waterproof Eye Make-up, and does what it says on the bottle. It’s a whopping 400ml in this bottle, that’s 200 uses at least. Great value for money! So for price point it blows the other two out of the water. There is a draw back, and I only noticed this because of using the other two. It is a little drying, in the way that your face can start to feel a little tight if you are not swift about slapping on the moisturiser, but for me that is my only quarrel that I have with it. For me The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is the best on the market.
So there you are, my favourite Micellar Cleansing Water. Have you tried any of the Micellar Cleansing Waters that are on the market at the moment? I would love to hear from you. I would be thrilled if you would follow on my social media channels. Click on the links below.

My Skincare changes from season to season and it’s a good practice to do this as your skin reacts differently to the change in weather. I have recently come across the brand Pixi Beauty from the lovely Caroline Hirons and Lily Pebbles who have both loved the Pixi glow tonic. So I thought I would give it a go. I purchased the Nourishing cleansing balm, Glow tonic and the Glow Mud Cleanser.
My first step in my morning skincare routine is to use The Glow Mud Cleanser , for me this is a jewel among cleansers. It contains my favourite ingredient ‘Glycolic Acid’. If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that when that word is mentioned in skincare my ears prick up like a Yorkshire Terriers ears when its master bellows ‘Walkies’!!. This ingredient does many wonderful things if you have dull or problmanic skin. Glycolic Acid (which I have mentioned in a previous post http://naybeautymua.com/my-september-monthly-favourites/) is an exfoliator. It is perfect for anti-ageing as it gently removes the outer layer revealing smooth, fresh and radiant skin. It also helps with age spots, acne-prone and blackhead prone skin. With the weather now on the turn, my skin has been breaking out quite a lot and looking so dull. I have used it regularly for 4 weeks now and not only does it help to keep my breakout under control but my skin looks so much brighter and smoother and definitely helps to refine pores. Admittedly though the product doesn’t smell great, but I can live with that, as it’s not that offensive and it’s not on your skin for long. The only thing that lets the product down is the packaging. In my opinion it’s cheap looking, which is disappointing as whats inside is amazing. With this in mind I can let it go, put it this way it would not put me off buying it again.
The second step in my skincare routine is to use Glow Tonic. Oh-My-To The Goodness, this tonic is the bomb. I have read so much about it from other beauty bloggers that I just had to see for myself. I have used it day and night for 4 weeks and it is hands down THE BEST for price. When you swipe it over your face, you are hit with a relaxing scent and all of a sudden your skin tingles to indicate that good things are happening! I have noticed a difference in my skin since using this. O.k I need to confess something, as a mum I have never had time to add more steps into my morning or night skincare routine, to me it just seemed an unnecessary step until I looked into more about what a Toner does for your skin and the results speaks for itself. But be warned once you start and you see and feel the difference in your skin you will never stop doing it as it takes literally 30 seconds extra of your time.
My next product is the first step in my nightime skincare routine that I use at the end of the day, it’s the Nourishing Cleansing Balm. Now I am new to these Cleansing Balms. The first one I used was the Ponds Cold Cream (http://naybeautymua.com/my-september-monthly-favourites/) I find them fascinating. You smear it over your face and it melts and breaks down the make up. You then take a warm flannel or because I am a little over the top with cleanleness I swipe it over my face with a cotton pad doused in Micellar Water to remove any traces of dirt, grime or make up. The only downside to this product is you cannot put it on your eyes to remove your eye makeup so you have to do an extra step for that.
So there you go that’s what I have been using for my new skincare for winter. What have you been using for your skincare lately? Are there any products that you would recommend to me that I might like to try? Please let me know in the comments and don’t forget to subscribe and follow me on all my social media channels, so you dont miss a thing.

Its true to say that My August Favourites just completely past me by. I was determined this month for that not too happen, as I have so much to tell you about the new skincare items I have been using for the last 12 weeks. I always like to make sure that I give the products a good go to really test their metal as it were. First off the bat is my Facial cleanser, Soap and Glory Hot Cloth Cleanser. I mentioned this in My July Hit or Miss on Beauty and Skincare take a look.
My next find literally made me feel sick as I handed my money over to the girl on the Charlotte Tilbury counter, for Charlotte’s Magic Cream, it is admittedly a little pricey, but boy does it pack a punch! This jar of wonderfulness is so multitasking in its ingredients it makes us women who are renowned for our multitasking prowess into well …A MAN. I have so far not come across a cream that really made me gasp when I read all it can do. So here we go, in this cream there is Bio-nymph peptide complex which fights for the skin on the anti ageing front. It stimulates collagen production and cell energy and fights free radicals, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and smooth the skin. A hyaluronic acid booster called Sodium Hyaluronate which engulfs the skin with moisture, an infusion of rose hip oil and vitamin E, now if you have been reading my blog for a while you will know anything that has Rose Hip in naturally gets my attention.
Charlotte Tilburys MAGIC CREAM has an SPF15 which if you are using the Nip+Fab Glycolic cleansing pads then you will need this. A mix of rose hip oil, camellia oil and anti-oxidant vitamin E which helps to transform the skin from a grey complexion into hydrated, mirror-shine skin, nourishing Vitamin A helps improves skin firmness and smoothness and energetic Vitamin C is able to promote collagen activity for more youthful skin.• Damask rose water and organic aloe vera benefit skin regeneration. I love in this part where Charlotte discribs “Extracts of Frangipani, the symbol of eternity, form a soothing, purifying and hydrating comfort-blanket on the skin”. This instantly makes me what to slather this all over my face to experience this “comfort blanket”.
Next in line is my nightime cleanse or the first cleanse with Ponds Cold Cream, apparantly Kylie Minougue uses this and if its good enough for Kylie, well its good enough for me. I slather this over my made up face and work it into the skin. It slowly melts the make up and then I take a cotton pad drenched in a micellar water ( I will have a post up soon on the best Micellar water) and swipe over my face to remove the cream. I really like the cream it does the job of removing your makeup and also leaves your skin feeling soft and plump and for only £5.49 from Boots great little find.
I then swipe over my face the Nip+Fab Glycolic Daily Cleansing Pads. This is new to me all the Glycolic acid melarkly, but it does intriugue me to how it works. It works by giving you a gentle face peel. “PEEL” you say “im only swiping cotton wool pads over my face not striping it”. I know, I said the same but I did my research and these are amazing things. It contains Glycolic Acid which is brilliant for the following it safely removes the outer layer of dead skin cells bringing new skin to the surface. This is benefical for those who are looking for ingredients that help with anti-aging, Glycolic acid can help also help lighten discoloration of the skin, like sun spots or age spots and help those with acne prone and blackhead prone skin. It retextures and resurfaces to give your skin a brightening effect, Hyaluronic acid which moisturises and refreshes, and blue daisy which soothes and calms. My skin within a week looks brighter and my age spots on my cheek disappeared. My skin feels so smooth and I have less blackheads. The only downside if you are using Glycolic Acid you need to make sure you use SPF on your skin to protect it from the suns rays, as it can be vunerable.
I then smooth over The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Concentrate Serum. I had heard about this in the bloggersphere and it was on my list next to try when my No7 serum had finished. It a lovely serum smoothes, freshens, and feels more supple.I really like the packaging on this instead of a perpet it has like a button you press at the top to draw the serum up, just a little something different which i like. My final product that i put on before i finally get into bed is Drops Of Youth The Body Shop Bouncy Mask, sounds fun doesnt it? It is, check out my post on this in My July Hit or Miss on Beauty and Skincare to get the full load down.
So there you have it my current skincare favourites. Have you tried any of these? Can you recommend any of your favourites that you think i should try? I would love to hear from you.

I was recently invited to Jo Malone, to try out their new fragrance which was launched for Autumn. It is the perfect Autumnal tone, although I will talk abit about the fragrance, I wanted to talk more about the experience that the lovely people at Jo Malone give. I took my mother with me for a little treat, and for a well earned shopping expedition. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly, bubbly lady, but to be fair, if I was breathing in the exotic fragrances daily, I would certainly be happy bunny!.
We were offered a refreshing lemon, lime and mint ice water, and then the lady took us through their new range. Mimosa and Cardamon comes in a body wash which the lady washed our arms with and then with a hot flannel wiped away the suds. The smell of the fragrance hits you with the warmth like a fake fur throw blanket, which is perfect note as the season changes.
She then massaged in the fragrances body lotion, which was very relaxing, and we discussed the ingredients of the new fragrance. Mists of honeyed, golden mimosa float above the spiciness of freshly crushed cardamom, creamy tonka and smooth sandalwood woven under powdery heliotrope and Damask rose picked at dawn. After receiving this amazing speech I was thoroughly excited about trying the next stage of the experience, but although the lady did her best to sell the product to me, I could not help but feel that this fragrance just didn’t do it for me. I think Jo Malone outdid themselves last year with their Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne, which I literally bath myself in daily, I simply cant get enough.
It was such a relaxing experience and I would recommend it to anyone to give this service ago, why not swing by and have a smell of the new Mimosa and Cardamon, you never know it might be your next fragrance!.
We had a fabulous time at Jo Malone, why not go on in and give it try.
Have you tried their new fragrance? What did you think of it? I would love to hear from you.

I thought instead of doing my July Favourites, I would do a Hit or Miss for July. Here are a few beauty and skincare products, that I have been using this month. So without a further of a do here we go.
I will start with skincare, after the sad departure of my beloved Liz Earle cleanse and polish (I ran out) and my love affair really had gone on long enough, it was about time I moved on. I decided to take Caroline Hirons advice and try two different products. First, Soap and Glory The Ultimelt deep purifying hot cloth cleanser. I am so glad I did. Its a great cleanser. From the moment you massage the grape size amount over my face and neck you are hit with a delightful smell of essential oils, lavender and orange. I found this very relaxing, yet invigorating, yet I would not use this to take your make up off with. Although, it would do the job, its just you cannot put it near your eyes to take your eye make up off, because of the essentials oils. This to me is a big downer, as I want my cleanser to just take all my make up off, but saying that it is a fantastic first cleanser. To use this first thing in the morning, is a dream, and I would prefer to have all the pro-vitamin B5 goodness, which soothes, moisturiser to help heal and regenerate the skin. The Almond oil, which is great for removing dead skin cells, impurities and brightens the skin. So if you were to use this to take your make up off with, all that goodness would go to waste, as it will not penetrate the skin as it has to break down the layers of make up first. The cloth though is rough, and needs a wash first to remove the starch build up from it, after that it was better. For the price point on this product you cannot overly grumble. Its great first cleanser for only a tenner.
My second skincare product recommendation from Caroline Hirons is the The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask. This is one of the weirdest mask I have used. Its texture which has been described as like a memory foam mattress! This gel like substance binds together, and you need to use a spatula to scoop out what you need. You apply the product on your face and neck massaging it into the skin and let it absorb. At this point it feels almost sticky and tight on the skin, but as it settles down it absorbs slowly, so you may need to find something to do while you wait. I go and brush my teeth. After about 10-15 minutes you are good to go and ready to hit the sack for some well earned rest, while your face mask works hard to provide you with the following benefits that you will feel in the morning. your skin feels bouncier, smoother, refreshed, recharged and renewed. The main ingredient it has in it Edelweiss stem cells. Now, not to bore you all but I will touch on this briefly. Stem cells from plants are the newest anti-aging ingredients. Plants stem cells have the ability to be immortal! They play a key role in tissue development, regeneration and cellular renewal. Who doesn’t want a bit of that on your skin!. Particularly with the Edelweiss stem cell, it is a tiny flower which grows in Switzerland and is able to grow in extremely harsh conditions (freezing temperatures, hardly any water). This is an exciting product, and from what I have just said, I am scratching the surface on what this particular plant can do. So far, I am really pleased with the results, and look forward to the coming months on how this product will improve my skin even further.
My Last skincare product is No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advance Serum which tackles the first signs of ageing, from the age of thirty onwards. Although I still cannot believe I am in that bracket, I have come to realise that I must succumb to a more intense skincare routine, if I want to avoid wrinkles. I adore this serum, it hydrates your skin as soon as it touches your face, and you can just feel it doing good things. I have put this on day and night for the last month, and so far I have no complaints, and I don’t think this is a one hit wonder. For a budget serum, I think its worth a whirl, if you are looking for a serum which is packed with Matrixyl 3000, which is shown in high concentration levels to improve elasticity, and that No7 claim if used over a period of time, will improve signs of ageing. Which is clinically proven that products that are packed with sunscreens, retinol, and l-ascorbic acid (active form of vitamin c) if used over a period of time will improve signs of ageing. So its a win,win situation.
First of my beauty is Rimmel london Rita Ora nail polishes in Bestival Blue. The colour is so pretty and it only took two coats to build the colour intensity. I have got into a habit lately, of not putting a topcoat on, as I think it chips the same if you have it on or not. With this nail polish though, I was highly impressed, it did not chip until day 3 of wearing it! I am astounded with this, I have more expensive polishes which chip the next day. So, I strongly recommend giving this a go.
Lets talk about Loreal Infallible Mega Lipgloss/Matt. I picked up these two shades, The bigger the better in the Matt and Mafia in the gloss. The Matt, I do not like. The colour is stunning, great pigmentation, but when it dries, it settles in your lines around the mouth and kind of cracks a bit. I wore it out on a night out and when I reapplied it, it just drags along the lip and just looked a hot mess! I wiped it off in the end, bit it still lingered around my lips, until I removed it with some micellar water when I returned home. The Gloss on the other hand is beautiful. The colour is rich and strong. It goes on like a dream, and is not sticky. If anything it is very moisturising and gives your whole make up a lift with its glossy, glamorous feel.
My second L’oreal purchase is the Brow Artist Genius Kit. I was in the market for a new brow kit/pencil, and really wanted to find a budget alternative to my Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow. I really like the packaging to this, its a cute compact with a coloured wax, same colored shadow, tweezers, a angled brush one end with a spoolie at the other end and a nice mirror. Great bits and bobs, but unfortunately that’s where it ends for me. I picked up the light to medium, which would normally be o.k, but for me its far to warm. It caters for the very light blonde who have a warmer toned brow, rather than darker blonde, where you would need a cooler toned shadow. I checked the medium to dark, but that looked far to dark for me. The wax pigmentation was poor, you could’nt add any ‘hairs’ with this, it would just be suitable for combing through the brows to keep them in place. Its a shame, I really wanted to like this product because the gadgets that come with it are good. This is only my opinion, have a try yourself and let me know.
My last beauty product is the Maybelline Lash Sensational lash multiplying mascara. I am always on the hunt for a great budget mascara, and I have found one here. The mascara itself does exactly what is says, lashes look visibly multiplied and fuller, my only bug bear with this, is the wand is plastic, which I do not like, and kind of gloops your lashes together, so I have to comb my lashes through afterwards, but for the price point you cannot complain. Great mascara, Love it.
These are my Hits and Misses for July. What have you liked this month? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear from you.

So I recently posted a picture of the St Tropez gradual tan in shower on my Instagram account, and was interested on how it would work for me, as I had heard so many mixed reviews on this product. The first thing that puts me off is the three minute wait while you are in the shower. The first time I used this, the three minute wait felt like an age!. Who really has an extra three minutes to stand there while the tanning properties do their work?? Not one to be beaten, I thought I could not be the only one with this dilemma. I have put together a lazy girls guide to having a very well organized and productive shower.
First, I always wash my hair, normally twice with TIGI Hair Reborn Awaking range or the orange one as I like to call it. I then will massage the TIGI Hair Reborn Awaking conditioner, which will be rebuilding my protein levels within my hairs cortex and adding strength and vitality, what more can you ask for??. Then I comb through the mid length to ends with a large tooth comb, while the conditioner does its thing, I wash my body with Imperial Leather Skinkind Hydrating body wash. I never used to give it much thought about what body wash I used, with having five people in the house, it would go down so quickly, but I was finding that my skin was so dry and parched after a shower, that I was slathering so much moisturiser to counter act the dryness. Then it occurred to me maybe I should try a more moisturising wash and since then it has halved my use of body moisturisers. I then use a body scrub, I have been using Botantics Mediterranean eden invigorating body scrub over my body, but concentrating mostly on knees and elbows. I then shave anywhere that needs it. (unfortunately I threw out the Botantics body scrub, because I had finished it and I thought I had taken a photo, but I hadn’t argh!)
My last part which utilizes the time best is now. I turn the shower off, apply the St Tropez Gradual Tan over my body in circular motions to get a more even coverage, wash your palms and then comes the waiting zzzz, but now you can scrub your face, no not any more. I use Clinque 7 day scrub cream as you can tissue this off, then apply your face mask, at the moment I have been using Aromatherapy Hydrating Rose face mask, I applied this over my face and neck. I got this as a free sample, but when you read the write up about this product, it is packed with so much goodness, you can even place the product around your eyes, which I have never been able to do with a mask.. This is a very moisturising, rehydrating mask, and brings life back to your skin. By this time two minutes have gone by. Then give your hair another comb through to really work the last parts of your conditioner and Bam! Three minutes is up and you can now rinse everything off!
So this is how I have been using the St Tropez gradual tan in the shower. Once I had this down it didn’t feel like a long time and I was really pleased with the initial results. Its gives a wonderful glow, with no offensive tan smell, and gave a nice subtle colour to my English rose skin. If you want a darker tone just use it every time you shower and it builds perfectly over time. I would recommend this product if you are new to tanning, it was so simple to use and it the results were very pleasing. I wanted to show a picture but every time I edited it, the tan didn’t show enough on camera, because I am SO white, but if I had used it a few more times, it would of shown much more.
Have you used this product yet? What do you think? I would love to hear your comments.
